ARTICLE I

NAME

The name of this organization shall be the Adventist Association of Movement Professionals (AAMP).

ARTICLE II

GOALS

The goals of this organization shall be to:

Section 1: Promote the principles of Christian education.

Section 2: Nurture Christian growth and integration of the physical, mental, spiritual and social dimensions of development throughout their educational experience.

Section 3: Identify and communicate methods and materials for professional development.

Section 4: Serve as the voice of the members in dealing with issues and trends in the profession.

ARTICLE III

MEMBERSHIP

Section 1: Membership shall be open to those engaged in health, physical education, recreation, athletics and related professions.

Section 2: The Executive Committee shall determine the amount of annual dues. An appropriate registration fee will be assessed for the national convention.

ARTICLE IV

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The officers of the Association comprising the Executive Committee shall be the President, Past President, Presient-elect, Executive Director, Secretary and Convention Coordinator.

ARTICLE V

MEETINGS

Section 1: The Association shall schedule its annual meeting at a time and location convenient to the national convention of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.

Section 2: Regional meetings may be held at a time and location agreed upon by the membership of that region and shall first be cleared by the Executive Committee.

ARTICLE VI

OFFICERS

Section 1: The President-elect shall be elected by a majority of the members who vote either by mailed ballot or during the national Association business meeting. The President-elect shall serve on the Executive Committee for one year prior to assuming the office of President.

Section 2: The President shall preside over all Executive Committee meetings. The term of office shall be one year.

Section 3: The Past President shall be a member of the Executive Committee for one year after serving as President.

Section 4: The Secretary shall be elected by a majority of the members who vote either by mailed ballot, electronically, or during the national Association business meeting, and shall be a member of the Executive Committee for one year.

Section 5: The Executive Director shall be appointed by the Executive Committee and ratified by a two-thirds majority of the membership quorum either by mailed ballot, electronically, or during the national Association business meeting. The term of office shall be at the discretion of the Executive Committee.

Section 6: The Convention Coordinator shall be appointed by the Executive Committee and shall serve for one year.

Section 7: Recommendations to the Executive Committee for President-elect and Secretary should be received by December 1.

Section 8: New officers shall assume their official responsibilities at the close of the national Association business meeting.

ARTICLE VII

AMENDMENTS

This constitution may be amended at any national Association business meeting by a two-thirds majority of the membership quorum.

BYLAWS

Section A: DUTIES OF THE MEMBERS

The members of the Association shall:

  1. Elect the President-elect and the Secretary.
  2. Consider items referred by the Executive Committee.
  3. Inform the Executive Committee of needs related to the performance of their function and professional development.
  4. Be encouraged to write articles for publication and to present papers at professional meetings.

Section B: DUTIES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The Executive Committee shall:

  1. Provide information, programs and activities designed to meet the goals of the Association.
  2. Provide for the fiscal structure of the Association including setting of dues.
  3. Appoint the following:
    1. Nominating Committee,
    2. Executive Director,
    3. Convention Coordinator,
    4. Standing Committees,
    5. Editor of the AAMP Newsletter, and
    6. a successor to fill any vacancy on the Executive Committee who will serve until the election at the next national Association business meeting.
  4. Recommend the time and place for the national Association meeting.
  5. Act as a clearinghouse for all regional meetings of the Association.
  6. Serve as the Association shall direct.

Section C: DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS

The President shall:

  1. Serve as chair of the Executive Committee and preside at national Association meetings.
  2. Serve as chair of the Program Committee for the national Association meetings.
  3. Appoint and work with ad hoc or other special committees.
  4. Represent the Association in contacts with other organizations.

The Past President shall:

  1. Assist the President in carrying out duties or special tasks as may be delegated.
  2. Coordinate and assist in the regional meetings of the Association.

The President-elect shall:

  1. Assist the President in carrying out duties or special tasks as may be delegated.

The Executive Director shall:

  1. Receive and account for all monies and make payments as authorized by the President, Executive Committee or the Association.
  2. Keep a record of all transactions of the Association and provide financial and other reports as requested by the President or Executive Committee.
  3. Serve as the historian/archivist of the Association.
  4. Update the mailing list of all members and others who should receive the AAMP Newsletter.

The Secretary shall:

  1. Keep the minutes of the official business meetings of the Association and the Executive Committee.
  2. Assist the President in carrying out duties or special tasks as may be delegated.

The Convention Coordinator shall:

  1. Make arrangements for securing facilities for the national Association meetings.
  2. Arrange housing and transportation as needed at the site of the national Association meetings.
  3. Be responsible for entertainment and food at the national Association meetings as directed by the Executive Committee and/or host institution.
  4. Serve as liaison between the host institution and Association members to help make the time spent together as enjoyable, worthwhile and trouble-free as possible.

Section D: QUORUM

  1. A quorum for the Association shall consist of at least 20 professional members.
  2. A quorum for the Executive Committee shall consist of at least the President, Past President or President-elect and Executive Director.

Section E: AAMP NEWSLETTER

This section is being updated as of April 2021.

Section F: PARLIAMENTARY RULES

Robert's Rules of Order shall govern in all meetings of the Association.

Section G: AMENDMENTS

These bylaws may be amended at any national Association business meeting by a majority of the membership quorum.
