2009 SDA-HPERA Convention Information
The 2009 convention will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Campus Chapel of Forest Lake Academy in Orlando, FL. Come celebrate on March 30, 2009 at our "Celebrating 60 years of SDA Physical Education" theme at our national convention held at Forest Lake Academy in Orlando, FL. We are inviting all current and former SDA physical educators for a reunion convention.
Driving DIRECTIONS from the airport - take Highway 436 north (approximately 23 miles). After passing I-4, the academy is approximately 3 miles further on the right. (If using GPS or Google Maps, use the old address of 3909 E. Semoran Blvd., Apopka, FL 32703-6149).

EXHIBITS: We are building on the initial effort at the convention last year to offer exhibit opportunities for attendees. The format of these can be varied. Bring a display featuring a special program you're doing at your school. Bring a poster outlining a recent research project. Demonstrate something you've shared at another location. Let people know what you're doing! If you plan to set up an exhibit, let our president, Nestor Osorio, know so he can meet your needs for a table or other type of display. SPONSORED DINNER: A special opportunity to hear stories from the early leaders in SDA physical education, and to "tell" stories about them! Thanks to the Southern Union for sponsoring this dinner!
HOUSING: Retired physical educators have Cottage spaces available to reserve on a first-come, first served basis at the Academy which will be at no cost. Please RSVP to Rob Thomas at 951 785-2082 or via email at rthomas (at) lasierra.edu. Current Professionals attending may also reserve space at a Cottage for a modest fee ($25 per room per night, which may be split by 2-4 people in a room).

TRANSPORTATION: There will be 1 or 2 shuttle van trips from the airport to the Academy and area hotels on Sunday, March 29. Possible times could be 3:00pm and 8:00pm. Contact Nestor Osorio at 407 761-8980... or via email at osorion (at) flec-sda.org if you are interested in taking advantage of this for a nominal shuttle fee ($10) to help cover costs. The shuttle will meet arrivals near Baggage Carousel #8 on the Terminal "A" side, and Baggage Carousel #26 on the Terminal "B" side. Contact Nestor Osorio for a direct line to the shuttle van driver.
