PE Teacher/Athletic Director

Portland Adventist Elementary School (PAES) is seeking candidates for a PE Teacher/Athletic Director position for the 2022-23 school year. Our school serves a diverse population and welcomes students of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds who desire an opportunity to have Christ and the teachings of the Bible as part of their education. We are looking for a positive, energetic teacher who is able to plan and instruct physical education classes for students in grades K-8. In addition to teaching PE classes, the position may require assisting in Athletic Director duties which include:

  • Maintaining the gym facilities and equipment
  • Recruit and organize volunteer coaches for various sports seasons
  • Communicating with parents about sign-ups and various sports seasons
  • Coaching or reffing when necessary
  • Collaborating with other PE teacher/athletic director to write up seasonal schedules
  • Coordinate transportation for middle school teams to compete at various other schools
  • Work with churches or other organizations to organize open gyms or sports camps throughout the year

Necessary experience includes:

  • - Experience teaching and/or coaching elementary and middle school age children
  • Experiencing managing or coordinating schedules or budgets (preferred)
  • State Teaching License or Adventist Teaching license (preferred)
  • Proficient in the English language
